A former men’s individual sabre athlete, he won gold at the 1978 Bangkok Asian Games—the first Chinese fencer to do so—earning the title “Asia’s No. 1 Sabre.” He later became the Chinese national team’s first sabre coach and led both the Chinese and Hong Kong teams at multiple Olympic Games.

Guy began fencing at 11 and went on to achieve strong state and national results, competing internationally as part of the national squad and training with the Polish Olympic Foil team. After more than a decade coaching in schools, he retired from competition and now focuses on coaching foil and guiding his students toward their goals.
